I’ve heard Vivid Imagination from Parfums Vintage is really good, although I haven’t smelled the original yet, waiting on a decant today of the original stuff.

Piguet’s 1270 and 1271 were used by a big number of brands, including Breitling (like the Cal. 69 pictured above), Omega, Hublot, Bulgari and Daniel Roth. Even with a quartz base, this was a really high-tech movement, using two quartz crystals oscillating at different frequencies (1kHz and 16kHz).

Jaeger-LeCoultre’s meca-quartz movements ended up in certain Jaeger-LeCoultre chronographs but were more commonly used in IWC and Porsche Design watches. Mechaquartz or meca-quartz typically refers to a chronograph watch movement that uses quartz technology for the main timekeeping functions of the watch, with a mechanical module for operating the chronograph - giving it a smooth sweeping like motion (similar to an automatic watch) and a snap-back style return to zero.
Brands also call this a mecaquartz or meca-quartz movement. Some collectors point to the 1964 Chronograph as one of the key meca quartz watches. Released in the late 2010s, this Dan Henry watch quickly became famous as people wanted to know how the movement inside worked. At its simplest, a meca-quartz is as its name suggest—a hybrid. It has a battery powering the movement through coils and a quartz oscillator, but the chronograph is mechanically actuated and controlled. Push the start/stop button and the second hand steps into action—and resets—just like a mechanical movement would.
