If Rolex had to drop the depth rating of the Submariner to accommodate for a gold case, I can understand being angry, but the watch is designed to perform the exact same way. You get the same diving capabilities, same movement, just with a more expensive metal.

I personally don't like to mod with after market parts, but when the gold dial on my 16213 became boring I had my watchmaker install a black dial on it - and it saved me the cost of sale, hassle of a new purchase and afforded me the opportunity to change back to the gold dial when I so felt like it.
