As others have mentioned the crown guards on Panerai references is a signature look and one that I much prefer. My 682 has been very comfortable for me, the crown guard is unobtrusive and is a great change of pace from my 16610 and 94210 Big Block.
Once I thought the screw on my 305's crown guard had fell off as I couldn't see it. Panerai boutique said they will take care of it for free but actually it was still there and properly screwed in.
Depending on the CG lever "loseness", I'd either brush the tiny amount of CG feet to slightly lower the whole CG assembly CG to the case, or add another o-ring rubber seal inside the crown to raise it (the crown) closer to the lever tip.
